Established in 1973-74 as Punjab Medical College, initially functioning out of a corner of Agriculture University, Lyallpur (now Faisalabad). The first MBBS batch graduated in 1978, and a government grant of Rs. 460 million funded new buildings, laboratories and a teaching hospital completed in 1982. The institution was granted university status as Faisalabad Medical University in 2017.
Location
Faisalabad, formerly known as Lyallpur under British colonial rule, is Pakistan's third-largest city and a major textile and industrial centre, often called the 'Manchester of Pakistan'. It grew from a planned agricultural colony town into a key industrial hub of Punjab.
