History & background

Established by the Government of Punjab in September 2008 as a constituent medical college of the University of Gujrat, inaugurated by then-Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, with Dr Nasir Aziz Kamboh as founding principal. A new 62-acre campus adjacent to the university was approved in 2012. As of 1 January 2022, the college was separated from the University of Gujrat and placed under direct administration of Punjab's Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department.

Location

Gujrat is a Punjab city historically known for its Mughal-era fort, pottery, fan and ceramics industries, situated between the Chenab and Jhelum rivers in the region often called the 'Gujrat-Gujranwala-Sialkot industrial triangle.'
