Its affiliated Shifa International Hospital traces back to 1987, when it was incorporated as a private limited company by a group of Pakistani physicians, becoming a public limited company in 1989. The parent Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University was established through a 2012 Act of Parliament, approved by President Asif Ali Zardari, with Shifa College of Medicine as one of its constituent colleges.
